Week 13: Classmate Conversation- Albert Haddad

This week at the art galleries, I met a new classmate by the name of Albert Haddad. Surprisingly, Albert is a freshmen. The reason why I am surprise that I met a freshmen is due to the fact that I have been interviewing sophomores and older students throughout the semester. Albert told me that he dorms on campus and is originally from the San Fernando Valley. Albert is a graduate from SoCES High School located in the valley. Albert choice to go to CSULB because he likes being by the beach and he liked the school atmosphere too. He is a civil engineering major student and enjoys eating, hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, and Hiking. Albert has an older sister that attends CSUN. In addition, he has one dog and his favorite color is yellow. Albert explained to me that he is very excited for the holidays and enjoys having Thanksgiving with his family.

To Albert art is a way for people to express themselves. Albert has enjoyed viewing all of the art work that he has seen at the art galleries each week.



Week 12: Classmate Conversation- Nestor Plascencia


This week I met a Nestor Plascencia. Nestor grew up and currently lives in Paramount, CA. Nestor went to Paramount High School and now attends CSULB. He is a second year student studying business management but might change his major to communication. In high school, Nestor played tennis. In addition, Nestor likes to play soccer and he normally watches movies and does his homework during his free time. Nestor plans to own his own business when he grows older.

According to Nestor, the color blue excites him and grey makes him feel unemotional. Unlike the color grey, Nestor likes the color blue.

Week 11: Classmate Conversation- Leslie Lopez


To begin, Leslie and I share the same major. Leslie is a Criminal Justice major student too. Leslie is 19 years old and is a second year student at Cal State Long Beach. Surprisingly, Leslie and I had a lot in common. Leslie went to Paramount High School. It was a coincidence that we both had the same college line up when deciding what college to attend. We both wanted to go to UCI and study Criminology, but we were both denied. In addition, Leslie likes to go to Disneyland, and her favorite Disney character is Aerial. Her favorite Disney movie are The Incredible and Toy Story. Leslie wants to become a detective when she grows up and plans to specialize in sex related crimes in order to catch the perpetrators that have committed sexual acts on their victims.

To Leslie a tattoo is art because it has a special meaning to the person the is getting the tattoo. Leslie expressed that getting a tattoo is art as it is being displayed and was created with a purpose. She said that if she was to ever get a tattoo she would get it on her wrist and it would probably be a quote.

Leslie would like to travel to Spain one day. She would also like to visit Australia when she begins to travel. Leslie also has two brothers that are young than her. Funny thing is Leslie is also a friend of my best friend and know a few of my close friends that attended high school with her.

Week 10: Student Conversation- Alicia Jones

This week for my classmate conversation, I met Alicia Jones. She is 19 years old and a second year student at Cal State Long Beach. Alicia is the youngest sibling and has an older brother and older sister. Alicia is a film major student and plans to one day work in the film industry. Alicia went to Gahr High School in Cerritos and liked to watch tv and Netflix. She likes to edit small films and would like to work for Buzz Feed one day. Alicia’s is very involved in cheerleading and had been cheerleading since she was 11 years old. Alicia’s friend helped her to get involve in cheerleading as she was a young child. With her cheer team, she has won 2 years Nationals in cheerleading. Alicia’s specialty in cheerleading is tumbling and flying. In 5 years, Alicia sees herself working for a film company and editing small films. She would love to travel to France and see Paris, France.


Week 9: Classmate Conversation- George Estephan

This week I met a new classmate by the name of George Estephan. Like myself, George is 19 years old and is a second year student at Cal State Long Beach. George is undeclared, but is considering studying an art such as music. George likes to listen to all types of music and goes to many concerts. In addition, George has worked on a few songs that he has written and recorded. His current musical project is to release his own album called Revelation. He plans to release this album by the end of this year. On top of his musical hobby and passion, George likes to go to the beach and clubbing with his friends


George’s favorite color is black and white. In 10 years, he sees himself going no where or owning his own clothing company. To George, art is having a deep meaning like hands on art and not the typical drawing or panting artwork. His favorite art gallery was the display of ceramic sculptures a few weeks ago.

Week 8- Classmate Conversation: Rosanna Ramierez


This week, I had the opportunity to meet a young lady by the name of Rosanna Ramierez. Rosanna is an undeclared, second year student, and attends Cal State Long Beach. Rosanna likes music and wants to major in music production. In addition, she has been playing the guitar for the last 5 years. Rosanna likes to go out with her family and travel. She has traveled to Oregon, Washington State, and Mexico. Out of all the locations that she has been to, Rosanna says that Guadalajara, Mexico was her favorite. Her explanation to traveling to so many places was because she wants to learn about different cultures.

Rosanna’s parents are both from Mexico. She has a twin sister and they are both fraternal twins. Rosanna’s sister is older than her by a few minutes. When I asked Rosanna what does art mean to her, she responded by saying, “Art allows people to express themselves and be creative.” Rosanna is a nice person and her personality was positive, funny, and respectful.

Week 7- Classmate Conversation: Cesar Torres

This week I reconnected with a friend that I made over the summer. His name is Cesar Torres. Cesar is a second year student at CSULB and currently studying Criminal Justice. Cesar plans to get a job as a police officer. Cesar and I met as we both studied abroad this past summer in Scotland.

Cesar likes to listen to music and hang out with his family and friends. In addition, Cesar likes to go to music concerts. All in all, Cesar likes to have a good time. As Cesar and I conversed, I asked him what was the craziest thing he did as a young teen? And Cesar responded by saying he had egged someone’s house. Besides Cesar’s crazy childhood, he is a smart, outgoing, and honest person that loves to have a good time.

He said that if he had the chance to color his hair any crazy color it would be dark red. He said that red is a cool color but dark red would be less crazy but yet cool.

Week 6- Classmate Conversation: Marisol Gonzalez

This week I interviewed Marisol Gonzalez. I met Marisol through a mutual friend in the class. Marisol is a second year student at Cal State Long Beach studying child development. Marisol wants to become a teacher working with elementary students. Marisol likes to play soccer, hang out with friends and her boyfriend, and dance to Banda music. Her favorite food to eat is enchiladas and her mother makes the best enchiladas according to Marisol. In addition to her hobbies and favorite foods, Marisol has an older sister. Marisol went to Milikan High School and played on the soccer team at school.

Her favorite color is pink and she believes that pink expresses happiness and being girly. Likewise, she believes that blue expresses sadness and freedom because the sky and water are both endless.

Week 5- Classmate Conversation: Perla Aguayo

This week I meet Perla Aguayo, who is a second year student at Cal State Long Beach. Perla likes to go to the beach and spend time with family and friends. Perla’s favorite color is purple and has 2 older brothers and 2 dogs. Perla is not a Long Beach native. Perla grew up and lived in Ontario, California. Because her hometown is far from Long Beach, thus Perla dorms on campus. Perla decided to come to Cal State Long Beach to study because she wanted to be close to the beach but not to far away from home. Perla is undeclared, but she is considering health science.

Perla answered this week’s question, What are you skimming in by saying she is swimming in life and in school. Perla is involved in school and enjoys her life.
